The Writing Experience Continues

The book title is most likely going to stay, “In the Shadow of Porter’s Hollow.” It conveys the idea of the protagonist (the main character) being a woman whose family past has overshadowed who she has become. I like the way the picture above hints at shadows and old things hiding in them.

The writing is going well. Over 50,000 words. I think I am nearing the end and have to make a few final plot direction decisions. It’s been a bit daunting to think I’m about to have a whole book written. Cause then what am I going to do with?

Uh-huh, that’s right. That means publication, and I have got a major case of butterflies about this. Of course, that will only be after the (major) editing and revision process. But I have this dorky dream where I’m holding in my hands a book, a real book, with my name on the cover. And it smells like a book. (I love that smell.)

But I know I can do this because for the first time in my life, I believe in myself and my writing abilities. The group has encouraged me and allowed me to express myself and my ideas. One thing Demi Stevens always says, “It’s your book!” And that’s what matters.
